R. Shaefer Heard Campground sits on the forested southern shore of West Point Lake along the Chattahoochee River. The facility provides 117 campsites equipped with electric and water hookups, alongside amenities such as hot showers, flush toilets, coin laundry, a dump station, and a boat ramp. Campers can launch powerboats, fish for bass and catfish, or use the on-site Lakeside Trail for mountain biking. The surrounding 25,900-acre reservoir features nearby day-use parks with public fishing piers, sports courts, and picnic shelters.
