Setting
Located along Frogtown Creek in the Chattahoochee National Forest, Desoto Falls Scenic Area sits at 2,080 feet elevation and features 23 campsites split between an upper and lower loop. Seasonal amenities from April through October include drinking water, trash dumpsters, flush toilets, and warm outdoor showers, while vault toilets remain open year-round; no hookups or dump stations are available. A wooden footbridge leads directly to trails accessing the lower (.25 mile) and upper (.75 mile) waterfalls, while Neels Gap and the Appalachian Trail sit 1.5 miles to the north.
Getting there: From Blairsville, GA take U.S. Highway 19/129 South for 17.0 miles and the campground entrance is on your right. From Dahlonega, GA take Highway 19 North for 18 miles and the entrance in on your left. From Cleveland, GA, take 19/129 North for 16 miles and the entrance to the campground is on your left.
