Setting
Pocket Picnic Shelter sits in a valley between Horn and Mill mountains along Spring Branch in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. The accessible shelter fits up to 75 people and 20 vehicles, offering picnic tables, grills, accessible vault toilets, and historic Civilian Conservation Corps spring box remnants along the creek. Located adjacent to the Pocket Campground, the site connects to multiple walking options, including the 1.5-mile Interpretive Trail, 2.5-mile Pocket Loop, and 3.5-mile Pocket Foot Trail. Johns Creek is less than a mile away for trout fishing.
Getting there: From I-75, take Exit 320 (LaFayette/Resaca) and head west on Georgia State Route 136 for approximately 14 miles. Turn left onto Pocket Road and continue approximately 7 miles. The recreation area is on the left. The second driveway leads to the picnic shelter.
