Setting
Morganton Point Recreation Area sits on the shores of Lake Blue Ridge in the Chattahoochee National Forest, surrounded by forested foothills. The facility offers campsites for RVs and tents, including walk-in tent sites. On-site amenities include picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, drinking water, accessible showers, and a designated swimming beach with outdoor showers. Lake Blue Ridge provides space for motorboats, jet skis, and bass fishing, while a lakeshore walking trail circles the shore and the nearby Appalachian and Benton MacKaye trails cater to longer hikes.
Getting there: Take U.S. Highway 515 north from Blue Ridge for 4 miles to Georgia Highway 60. Turn right (southwest) and continue 3 miles to the town of Morganton. In Morganton, turn right on County Road 616 (Lake Drive) and proceed for 1 mile. To enter the campground, take the first left after the Morganton Point entrance sign.
