All 12 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Dirt the whole way in (12 miles). Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~210 ft on the downhill side. Winds through 13 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch.
Engineer Mountain stands 4,142 ft above the site, 2.8 miles north. Cascade Creek runs 0.1 mi off. A well-travelled stretch -- travellers have camped along here. The nearest town, Mountain Village, is 19 mi off.
