Upper Crossing Guard Station sits at 8,400 feet along Highway 114 at the confluence of two mountain creeks near the Continental Divide. The historic former forest headquarters features indoor running water, electricity, a flush toilet, a propane heater, and a wood stove. Sleeping up to nine guests with three bunk beds, the facility includes a full kitchen with a stove and refrigerator, an outdoor picnic table, a fire grill, and a horseshoe pit. Trout fishing is available directly outside the door, with hiking trails accessing surrounding public lands.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
A body of water lies 0.3 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. Trickle Mountain stands 1,709 ft above the site, 3.5 miles east. The nearest town, Del Norte, is 32 mi off.
