Penitente Canyon Recreation Area sits in a volcanic canyon landscape featuring singletrack trails, ancient rock art, and sport climbing routes. The campground offers 15 individual sites (3 tent-only and 12 RV/tent), 2 group tent sites, and a group picnic shelter. On-site amenities include picnic tables, tent pads, fire rings, food storage lockers, 5 vault toilets, trash bins, and seasonal drinking water available May through October. Trails throughout the canyon serve foot, horseback, and mountain bike travel.
