Setting
Hahns Peak Lake Campground sits in a forest of spruce, pine, and fir along the shore of 160-acre Hahns Peak Lake at 8,500 feet. Located 30 miles north of Steamboat Springs, the facility features 23 single campsites and three double sites equipped for tents and trailers. Non-motorized and electric motor boating are permitted on the water, which is stocked with trout. The West Side Lake Trail skirts the shore, and the Prospector Trail loop accommodates mountain biking and off-road vehicles. Steamboat Lake State Park is a short drive away.
Getting there: From Steamboat Springs, Colorado, take U.S. Highway 40 west for 1.2 miles and turn north onto County Road 129. Proceed for 28 miles, then take Forest Road 486 west for 2 miles to the campground.
