Built in 1911 as a telephone line shack, this high-altitude log cabin sits at 11,000 feet in a mountain saddle overlooking alpine meadows and peaks. The single-room interior sleeps four people on two bunk beds and includes a wood stove, propane lighting, a propane cooktop, and a kitchen table. An outdoor vault toilet and firewood shed are on site, but there is no running water. Located near the South San Juan Wilderness, the cabin provides access to historical mining ruins at Summitville, stream fishing along Iron Creek, and high-country hiking trails.
