Setting
Lodgepole Campground sits at an elevation of 9,900 feet along Jefferson Creek, surrounded by groves of aspen and mixed conifers. The single-loop facility features over 30 campsites with gravel parking spurs up to 30 feet, picnic tables, grills, vault toilets, and drinking water. Jefferson Creek offers trout fishing right from camp, while Jefferson Lake lies three miles north for no-wake boating and fishing. Trailheads nearby connect hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders directly to the 471-mile Colorado Trail and the West Jefferson Loop up to the Continental Divide.
Getting there: From US Highway 285 at Jefferson, take County Road 35 north to County Road 37 and turn right. Pay the user fee at Jefferson Lake Recreation Area entrance station and continue on the road to the campground.
