Setting
Horseshoe Campground sits at 10,600 feet at the base of Sheep Mountain along Horseshoe Creek. Surrounded by aspen, Engelmann spruce, and bristlecone pine, the site offers wood-screened campsites that fit RVs up to 25 feet, complete with picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, and drinking water. Visitors come to wade and fish in the creek, hike the 3-mile Limber Grove Trail among ancient limber pines, or use the camp as a base to climb nearby 14,000-foot peaks like Mount Sherman.
Getting there: From Fairplay travel south on US-285 for about one mile. Turn right onto County Road 18. Continue for approximately 6 miles to the campground on the left.
