North Dunes camping area in State Forest State Park, a 70,838-acre park in Jackson County's Medicine Bow Range of the northern Colorado Rockies, east of Walden. Forest dominated by lodgepole pine, Douglas fir, Colorado blue spruce, and aspen. Multiple reservoirs including North Michigan Creek Reservoir support fishing and boating. Park renowned as the moose viewing capital of Colorado with over 600 moose year-round; also hosts bighorn sheep, black bears, mule deer, and elk. Ninety-four miles of hiking trails throughout. Established 1970.
