Setting
Big Creek Lakes Campground sits at 9,000 feet in Routt National Forest, adjacent to Big Creek Lake among lodgepole pine and fir trees. The layout features 24 reservable sites and 30 first-come, first-served sites, alongside two boat ramps for motorized boating on the lower lake and non-motorized craft on the upper section. Facilities include an on-site horse corral near site 17. The surrounding area offers fishing for trout, salmon, grayling, and muskie, as well as hiking trails into the adjacent Mount Zirkel Wilderness. The town of Walden is 35 miles away.
Getting there: From Walden, follow Route 125 north for 9 miles into Cowdrey. Turn left (west) onto CR 6W and travel 18 miles to Pearl. Turn onto Forest Road 600 and drive for 6 miles, following signs to campground.
