A 40.6-mile stretch of gravel National Forest road in Hinsdale County, CO. The road is open seasonally, May 28 to February 29.

Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Gunnison Ranger District allows dispersed camping here -- 14-day limit in any 60 days.

4.2 of the 40.6 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Mostly gravel, with 4.5 miles of dirt. Winds through 14 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch. Cattle guards 4.7, 12.1, 17.8, 28, 31.6, 36.7, 38.7 and 40.4 miles in. Gates 40.2 and 40.2 miles in.

A well-travelled stretch -- travellers have camped along here. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off. A body of water lies 1.0 mi off. Mesa Seco stands 1,469 ft above the site, 3.4 miles north. The nearest town, Ouray, is 25 mi off.
