Campground details
Setting
One Mile Campground sits along the banks of the Taylor River at an elevation of 8,600 feet, 18 miles from Gunnison in Taylor River Canyon. Shaded by lodgepole pine and aspen, all single-family campsites feature electric hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Potable water is not available on site, so campers must bring water or haul from nearby Lottis Creek. The river provides access for floating and trout fishing, with off-road trails, the Fossil Ridge Wilderness, and Taylor Park Reservoir all located close by.
Getting there: From Gunnison, Colo., travel north on Colorado Highway 135 for 10 miles, to Almont. Turn right onto Taylor Canyon Road and proceed just over 8 miles to the campground entrance, which is on the right.
- Limited separation from through roads or other sites here, a 29-site campground with the nearest through road 0.1 miles off.
- A river runs 0.1 mi off.
- East Cement Mountain stands 3,612 ft above the map pin, 4.6 miles north.
- Most sites here have an electric hookup.
