Setting
Situated along the shores of Lottis Creek at an elevation of 8,600 feet, this lodgepole pine campground sits in Taylor River Canyon within the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests. The facility features 47 single-family campsites and one 50-person group pavilion, with electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings at most sites. Hikers and horseback riders use the location to access the Fossil Ridge Wilderness two miles south, while off-road drivers explore trails off Cumberland Pass Road and anglers fish local waters.
Getting there: From Gunnison, Colo., travel north on Highway 135 for 10 miles to Almont. At intersection of State Rt. 135 and County Rt. 742, take Rt. 742 for 16.7 miles to campground sign. Turn right into campground.
