Setting
Lodgepole Campground sits in Taylor River Canyon, 22 miles from Gunnison. Tucked into a dense stand of lodgepole pine that provides shade and privacy between sites, the facility offers single-family campsites with picnic tables and campfire rings. On-site amenities include vault toilets and drinking water. Campers have direct access to a calm stretch of the Taylor River for kayaking, rafting, and trout fishing. The Fossil Ridge Wilderness trailheads are one mile south, off-road trail systems sit nearby, and Taylor Park Reservoir is within ten miles.
Getting there: From Gunnison, Colo., travel north on Highway 135 for 10 miles to Almont. Turn right (northeast) onto Taylor Canyon Road and proceed 12 miles to the campground entrance, which is on the right.
