Lake Fork Campground is located on the semi-arid shrubland shore of Blue Mesa Reservoir near its dam, within Curecanti National Recreation Area. The terrain features steep canyon walls carved by the Gunnison River alongside patches of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir. On-site amenities include summer flush toilets, a fish cleaning station, and a nearby boat ramp. Boating, jet skiing, canoeing, and fishing are primary activities. Hikers can reach the nearby Curecanti Creek Trail, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park sits just to the west.
