Elk Creek Campground sits on the north shore of Blue Mesa Reservoir in Curecanti National Recreation Area at an elevation of 7,540 feet. Surrounded by semi-arid sagebrush plains, the facility features boat ramps, an amphitheater for summer campfire programs, and 30- and 50-amp electric hookups in Loop D. As Colorado's largest body of water, the 20-mile-long reservoir supports swimming, water skiing, windsurfing, and fishing for Kokanee salmon and rainbow trout. The nearby Cimarron Rail Exhibit offers historic railroad displays.
