Setting
Dumont Campground sits at 9,400 feet on the Continental Divide near Rabbit Ears Peak in Routt National Forest. Set among spruce-fir forest and alpine meadows, the facility overlooks 50-acre Dumont Lake. It features private individual campsites with picnic tables, a day-use area, and three restrooms. Boats on the lake are restricted to electric motors or hand paddle craft. Anglers fish for trout, while hikers access the 2-mile Rabbit Ears Trail directly from the grounds or connect to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail nearby. Steamboat Springs lies to the west.
Getting there: From Steamboat Springs, Colorado, travel 22 miles southeast on U.S. Highway 40/Rabbit Ears Pass. Turn left on Forest Road 315 at the Dumont Campground sign. The campground is located about a mile from the highway.
