Setting
Gore Creek Campground is situated six miles east of Vail, Colorado, at an elevation of 8,700 feet along the banks of Gore Creek in White River National Forest. The facility has 16 back-in sites (for RVs up to 35 feet) and eight walk-in tent sites, including an accessible layout. Site amenities include bear-resistant food lockers and four accessible vault toilets. Located near the boundary of the Eagles Nest Wilderness, the campground provides immediate access to wilderness hiking trailheads and connects to the paved Vail Pass/Tenmile Canyon multi-use recreation trail.
Getting there: Travel east on I-70 to Exit 180 for East Vail. Turn right and follow the south frontage road (Bighorn Road) east to the road closure gate at about 2 miles.
