Setting
Mavreeso Campground sits at an elevation of 7,600 feet along the West Dolores River, shaded by spruce, ponderosa pine, and Douglas fir. The facility offers single-family campsites—a few with electric hookups—and a group site for up to 40 people. Sites include accessible tables, fire rings, and grills, alongside vault toilets and drinking water. Anglers fish the river for trout, while mountain bikers use nearby Forest Roads 532 and 535. Forest Trail 624 starts two miles south, and the historic resort at Dunton Hot Springs is located 15 miles north.
Getting there: From Dolores, Colo., take State Route 145 north about 12 miles to West Dolores Road sign. Turn left onto Forest Road 535 and go just over six miles to the campground.
