Mingus Ranch is a restored 1908 homestead cabin located at 9,400 feet in a meadow near Round Top Mountain. The two-story structure sleeps six across three beds and includes electric heat, electric lights, a stove, and cooking utensils. Outside features a horse corral, picnic table, campfire ring, and a vault toilet located several hundred feet away. There is no running water or indoor plumbing, so guests must bring drinking water and supplies. Surrounding trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles.

Road difficulty 4 of 5 -- a difficult drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, dirt, pitching to 10%, 100% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Cabins and shelters rather than pads. Night skies measure Bortle 3 -- a dark rural sky. Saint Charles Peak stands 2,138 ft above the site, 5.1 miles south. The nearest town, Colorado City, is 18 mi off.

September normals 3964°F, 1.6″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
