Built in 1911 for early forest guards, Bassam Guard Station sits at 9,700 feet in an aspen stand within the Salida Ranger District. The 14x16 cabin sleeps two adults on a full bed and includes a table, dresser, two-burner propane stove, and wood-burning stove. Outdoors, a metal fire ring and picnic table are provided, with room for six additional campers in tents or an RV. A hand pump supplies water, but guests must bring extra drinking water. Portable horse corrals are allowed. Trail 1435 and Aspen Ridge Road access the adjacent Browns Canyon National Monument.
