Zapata Falls Campground sits among pinyon pines on the slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, looking out over the San Luis Valley and Great Sand Dunes National Park. The facility features two one-mile loops containing 23 single campsites (11 tent, 12 RV) with parking spurs up to 50 feet, plus a group tent site. Campsites include tables, tent pads, fire rings, and food lockers, with six vault toilets and trash bins on site. There is no drinking water. A trailhead links directly to the South Zapata Creek Trail, while an adjacent day-use trail leads half a mile to Zapata Falls.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
