9.1 of the 10.1 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Mostly gravel, with 2.5 miles of dirt. Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~120 ft on the downhill side. Winds through 6 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch.
Cherry Creek runs 0.2 mi off. Woods Ridge stands 1,518 ft above the site, 2.7 miles west. The nearest town, Mi-Wuk Village, is 15 mi off.
