Thunderbird Group Campground is located 6.5 miles north of Kernville inside Sequoia National Forest at 3,200 feet elevation. The facility features three group camping sites set in an open area overlooking the Kern Wild and Scenic River, with steep canyon walls dotted with gray pine, scrub oak, and riverbank willows. On-site amenities include picnic tables, campfire rings, and portable toilets. No drinking water is available. Visitors use the area for river rafting, kayaking, fishing, and hiking, with the 11.5-mile Cannell Meadow National Recreation Trail located nearby.
