Poso Guard Station Cabin is a 1933 single-story wood structure perched at 4,480 feet elevation among pine and oak trees, overlooking the San Joaquin Valley. The one-bedroom cabin sleeps five and features electricity, hot and cold running water, a furnace, a flush toilet, a tub-shower, and a fully equipped kitchen with a stove and refrigerator. Outside, the grounds include a picnic table, campfire ring, and space for tents, cots, or an RV without hookups. Nearby attractions include the Tobias Fire Lookout and the Trail of 100 Giants.

Road difficulty 3 of 5 -- a rough drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, gravel, pitching to 6%, 100% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Peel Peak stands 2,241 ft above the site, 2.2 miles east. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. A body of water lies 0.4 mi off. The nearest town, Wofford Heights, is 12 mi off.

September normals 5481°F, 0.1″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
