Long Valley Campground sits within the Chimney Peak Recreation Area adjacent to the Domelands Wilderness. The grounds contain 13 campsites, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, alongside primitive pit toilets. There is no potable water on site. The Volpe Trail, an unmaintained 3-mile path leading to the South Fork of the Kern River, begins at the end of the campground loop near site 13.
Road difficulty 2 of 5 -- a moderate drive in. BLM plans this as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles -- condition unverified. Recorded as graded dirt, pitching to 8%.
Secluded here -- no through road within 3.7 miles. White Dome stands 2,305 ft above the site, 3.3 miles northwest. The nearest town, Weldon, is 16 mi off.
