Hospital Flat Campground sits in Sequoia National Forest at 3,000 feet elevation, set in an open canyon along the Kern Wild and Scenic River 6.5 miles north of Kernville. Canyon walls hold gray pine and scrub oak, while cottonwoods and willows line the riverbanks. The facility consists of a single loop offering single-family sites with picnic tables and campfire rings. On-site amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Popular activities on the water include fishing, kayaking, and rafting, while the 11.5-mile Cannell Meadow National Recreation Trail sits just north of Kernville.
