Located southeast of Porterville within Giant Sequoia National Monument, this primitive, tent-only campground sits at 6,400 feet elevation in Sequoia National Forest. The site has 10 individual campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets are available on site, but there is no drinking water. The location provides quick road access to the Redwood and Long Meadow sequoia groves, as well as the Trail of a Hundred Giants, a paved, wheelchair-accessible loop winding through mature giant sequoias.
All 0.4 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Dirt the whole way in (0.4 miles). Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Parker Peak stands 1,262 ft above the site, 1.7 miles northwest. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 9-site campground. Mostly tent-only sites -- most of them shaded. Meadow Creek runs 0.7 mi off. The nearest town, Wofford Heights, is 19 mi off.
