Campground details
Setting
Mary Smith Campground is located two miles north of Lewiston, California, tucked into a forest of conifer and deciduous trees overlooking 1,902-foot-elevation Lewiston Lake. The five-mile-long, 70-foot-deep lake has a 10 mph speed limit, making it popular for fly fishing, float tubes, and kayaking for rainbow, brown, and brook trout. The site features six glamping units with queen beds, down bedding, front decks, tables, and fire pits. It also offers flush and vault toilets, drinking water, and direct shore access, but no trailer parking.
Getting there: From Weaverville: Take Highway 3 north for 7 miles. Turn right on Rush Creek Road for 9 miles. Turn left on Trinity Dam Blvd for 3/4 mile. Turn right on Lewiston Vista/Mary Smith exit. Campground is 1/4 mile from exit on County Road 105, 2 miles north of Lewiston.
- Well separated here, a 20-site campground with the nearest through road 3.3 miles off.
- Flat ground is scarce: under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
- Siligo Peak stands 2,029 ft above the map pin, 1.6 miles northeast.
- Mostly tent-only sites, with 20 hike-in sites and most of them shaded.
