Setting
Located along the Wild and Scenic Trinity River, Hayden Flat Campground sits at an elevation of 1,200 feet along California Highway 299. The upper loop features three group sites, each containing three to four individual campsites. Visitors can launch hand-carried boats directly from the site for fishing, floating, rafting, and kayaking. Several trailheads nearby provide access to the surrounding Trinity Alps Wilderness.
Getting there: Hayden Flat Campground is located on the north side of CA Highway 299. The group sites are located behind the locked gate at the top of the campground. To get to Hayden Flat Campground from Redding, CA: Travel West on CA Highway 299, through Weaverville, CA, for approximately 31 miles. To get to Skunk Point Group Campground from Arcata, CA: Travel East on CA Highway 299 for approximately 65 miles.
