Setting
Oak Bottom Campground sits on a shaded hillside of Douglas fir and hardwoods along the Salmon River in Six Rivers and Klamath National Forests. Located near Somes Bar, California, the site draws visitors for spring class 3 to 5 whitewater kayaking, summer river swimming, and fall salmon and steelhead fishing on the nearby Klamath River. The facility features 25 single-family campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and a bear-resistant food storage locker. Amenities include vault toilets and drinking water, with general store supplies 2.5 miles away.
Getting there: From Highway 96, take Salmon River Road/Forest Highway 93 for 2.3 miles to Oak Bottom Campground.
