Setting

Little privacy

Fowlers Campground sits at 3,300 feet elevation along the Upper McCloud River in a mixed conifer and oak forest near Mt. Shasta. The property offers 35 single sites and two double sites suited for tents and mid-sized RVs, equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, piped drinking water, paved parking spurs, and select bear-resistant food lockers. A 3-mile round-trip riverside trail leads directly from the grounds to Lower, Middle, and Upper McCloud Falls.

Getting there: From McCloud, California, go east on Highway 89. Drive 5 miles and look for the Fowlers/Lower Falls Sign. Turn right just after the sign and drive approximately 1 mile. Once you cross the River Loop Road take the left fork into the campground. The right fork will take you to the day use/parking area for Lower Falls and the beginning of the River Trail.

  • Little separation from through roads or other sites here, a 36-site campground with the nearest through road 0.1 miles off.
