Setting
Yuba Pass Campground sits atop Yuba Pass on Highway 49 within Tahoe National Forest. Set in an old-growth forest of red fir and aspens, the campground offers single-family sites equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings, alongside shared vault toilets and drinking water. The area is a destination for bird watching and provides access to extensive trail systems, including the Pacific Crest Trail in the nearby Gold Lakes Basin. Sardine Lakes, located nine miles west, features boat rentals, swimming, and trout fishing. The historic gold rush towns of Sierra City and Sierraville are nearby.
Getting there: From Sierraville, travel south (west) on Highway 49 for 11 miles. Turn left at the entrance to the snow park and continue about a quarter-mile to the campground entrance on the right side of the road. From Sierra City, travel north (east) on Highway 49 for about 12 miles. Turn right at the entrance to the snow park and continue about a quarter-mile to the campground entrance on the right side of the road.
