Setting
Salmon Creek Campground stretches along the banks of Salmon Creek in the Tahoe National Forest, shaded by cottonwood, lodgepole pine, and cedar trees. The facility features 31 single-family sites, including dedicated tent-only options, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided on site. Located near the Sierra Buttes, the campground provides access to local trail networks including the Tamarack Lake Trail, Deer Lake Trail, and Pacific Crest Trail, with fishing and boating available at nearby Sardine Lakes.
Getting there: From Sierraville, travel south on Highway 49 for 18 miles to Bassetts. Turn right and continue two miles to the campground, which is on the left side of the highway.From Sierra City, travel north on Highway 49 for 5 miles. Turn left at Bassett Station on Gold Lake Highway and continue just over a mile, campground is on the left just past Packer Lake Road.
