Setting
Cottonwood Creek Campground is located along Highway 89, set in a stand of Jeffrey pine, red fir, and white fir beside Cottonwood Creek. The facility provides single-family campsites, each fitted with a picnic table and campfire ring. Essential amenities on site include vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. The Cottonwood Creek Botanical Trail and Overlook Trail are short footpaths that start directly from the grounds. Additional fishing and hiking options are nearby, with Lake Tahoe roughly 40 minutes away and Sardine Lakes 35 minutes northwest.
Getting there: From Truckee, travel north on Highway 80 to Highway 89 approximately 20 miles to the campground. From Sierraville, travel approximately 5 miles south on Hwy 89, the campground will be on the left side of the highway.
