Setting
Cold Creek Campground lies along Highway 89 in a meadow next to Cold Creek, shaded by Jeffrey pine, white fir, cottonwood, willow, and aspen trees. Intended for tents and small campers due to a tight turning radius, the facility offers single-family campsites and a couple of walk-in sites with shared parking. Each site contains a picnic table and campfire ring, and vault toilets are located on site. Cold Creek provides rainbow trout fishing and wading. Hiking trails start at the adjacent Cottonwood Creek Campground, while Lake Tahoe sits 35 minutes south.
Getting there: From Truckee, California, take Highway 80 north to Highway 89 approximately 20 miles. The campground is on the left side of the highway. From Sierraville, head south on Highway 89 approximately 5 miles, the campground will be on the right side of the highway.
