Setting
Cal-Ida Campground sits along Highway 49 across from the North Yuba River, 13 miles from Downieville in the Tahoe National Forest. Shaded by oak, maple, and locust trees, the layout features single-family sites, including several tent-only options. Each campsite is furnished with a picnic table and campfire ring, while vault toilets and drinking water are located on site. The adjacent river provides options for swimming, trout fishing, kayaking, and rafting, with the North Yuba River Trail located nearby.
Getting there: From Downieville, travel south on Highway 49 for about 13 miles. The campground is on the right side of the highway. From Nevada City, travel north on Highway 49 for about 31 miles. The campground is on the left side of the highway.
