Upper Loop at Castle Crags State Park, positioned within a forested campground beneath the park's iconic granite spires. Seventy-six developed sites across multiple loops include picnic tables, food lockers, and fire rings, with flush toilets, showers, and drinking water. The park offers 28 miles of hiking trails through mixed conifers, including the accessible Root Creek Trail and more challenging Crags Trail, plus fishing along the Sacramento River. A pedestrian suspension bridge provides scenic access and trail connectivity within the park.
