Summit Lake South Campground sits at an elevation of 6,700 feet along the main road in Lassen Volcanic National Park, just steps from the shores of Summit Lake. The site features vault toilets, drinking water, campfire rings, picnic tables, and a dedicated tent-only loop. It serves as a hub for hikers and backpackers, located eight miles from Lassen Peak and less than ten miles from the Bumpass Hell hydrothermal area. A major trail passes a quarter-mile away, while the Cluster Lakes Loop trailhead departs from the nearby Summit Lake Ranger Station across the lake.
