Summit Lake South in CA -- Campground & RV Camping

Summit Lake South Campground sits at an elevation of 6,700 feet along the main road in Lassen Volcanic National Park, just steps from the shores of Summit Lake. The site features vault toilets, drinking water, campfire rings, picnic tables, and a dedicated tent-only loop. It serves as a hub for hikers and backpackers, located eight miles from Lassen Peak and less than ten miles from the Bumpass Hell hydrothermal area. A major trail passes a quarter-mile away, while the Cluster Lakes Loop trailhead departs from the nearby Summit Lake Ranger Station across the lake.

Getting there: From Redding, California take State Highway 44 east approximately 48 miles to the Manzanita Lake entrance of the park. The campground is 14 miles south of the entrance on the main park road.
