Salt Creek Camping and Day Use Area provides dispersed shoreline camping along the Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake. The site features no designated or formal campsites. During the main operating season, seasonal portable restrooms and trash services are provided, while winter visitors must pack out all waste. Water sports such as jet skiing, water skiing, and fishing for bass, trout, and salmon draw visitors to the lake. Informal boat mooring is permitted along the shore when water levels allow, and a public boat ramp is available 6 miles away at Antlers.
Getting there: Salt Creek Dispersed Area is located 20 miles north of Redding from I-5. Going Northbound I-5 exit at the Gilman Rd exit. Take a left at the stop sign from the ramp. Turn right onto Salt Creek Rd/Gregory Creek Rd follow make a left onto Salt Creek Lodge Rd for about 1 mile. The dispersed area entrance will be on the right.
