Designated sites only

National Park Service allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.

Peltier Bridge Primitive Campground sits along Clear Creek in the southeast section of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, shaded by alders and canyon live oaks. This tent-only facility offers sites equipped with picnic tables, fire pits with barbecue grills, lamp poles, and bear-resistant lockers, all served by two shared vault toilets. Sites 1 through 3 require a 25- to 35-foot walk from the parking area. The campground provides no drinking water or electricity, and all trailers, RVs, and motorhomes are prohibited due to limited parking.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 15 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit.

Monarch Mountain stands 1,589 ft above the site, 1.1 miles northwest. Clear Creek runs 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.6 miles off, a 9-site campground. Mostly tent-only sites -- 7 sit on the water, most of them shaded. Night skies measure Bortle 2 -- true dark-sky territory. The nearest town, Shasta, is 3.8 mi off.

September normals 5691°F, 0.5″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
