Brandy Creek Primitive Campground offers tent-on-the-ground camping along Brandy Creek in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Due to the Carr Fire, the site lacks tree shade. Each individual campsite is built with its own dedicated vault toilet, a picnic table, a metal fire pit with a barbecue grill, a lamp pole, and a bear-resistant storage locker. The facility has no potable water or electrical hookups, and RVs, trailers, popup campers, and vehicle sleeping are strictly prohibited. The Brandy Creek Trail passes right by camp, leading to nearby waterfalls.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 20 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
South Fork Mountain stands 3,471 ft above the site, 2.9 miles southwest. Papoose Creek runs 0.2 mi off. Private here -- the nearest through road is 0.9 miles off, a 2-site campground. Mostly tent-only sites. The nearest town, Shasta, is 5.4 mi off.
