Beehive Dispersed Camping and Day Use Area offers shoreline camping along the Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake. The site features no designated individual campsites. Seasonal amenities include portable toilets and trash collection during the main season, transitioning to pack-in, pack-out dispersed use in the winter. Shasta Lake is a hub for water skiing, jet skiing, and fishing for species including bass, trout, crappie, and salmon. Informal boat mooring is allowed along the shore when water levels permit, and the Sugarloaf public boat ramp sits about 1 mile away.
Getting there: Beehive Dispersed Area is located 25 miles north of Redding from I-5. Going Northbound I-5 exit at the Lakeshore Drive/Antlers Road exit in the town of Lakehead, CA. Take a left at the stop sign from the ramp. Turn left on Lakeshore Dr for about 1 mile to the dispersed area entrance on the left.
