Castle Rock Trail Camp encompasses 20 backcountry sites distributed between the main area and Frog Flat, situated along the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains at one of the Bay Area's highest ridges. Accessible via a 2.6-mile hike along the Saratoga Gap Trail, the trail camp features piped water, vault toilets, and fire rings; each site has a table. Black oaks, knobcone pines, and coastal redwoods surround the sites. Frog Flat's five sites offer more exposure and separation, popular for stargazing.
