Water Canyon Campground is a primitive 15-site island facility located in a canyon on Santa Rosa Island in Channel Islands National Park. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, a food storage box, and a tall windbreak structure. On-site amenities include drinking water and a restroom. The campground is reached via a 1.5-mile hike from the Bechers Bay pier or a quarter-mile walk from the island airstrip. Water Canyon Beach is located a short walk down the canyon, while nearby trails lead to the island's rare Torrey pine grove and Black Mountain.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Private here -- no through road within 3.7 miles, a 16-site campground. Mostly tent-only sites -- 16 hike-in sites, 16 sit on the water. The coast lies 0.5 mi off. The nearest town, Isla Vista, is 31 mi off.
