Santa Rosa Island in CA -- Campground & RV Camping

Water Canyon Campground is a primitive 15-site island facility located in a canyon on Santa Rosa Island in Channel Islands National Park. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, a food storage box, and a tall windbreak structure. On-site amenities include drinking water and a restroom. The campground is reached via a 1.5-mile hike from the Bechers Bay pier or a quarter-mile walk from the island airstrip. Water Canyon Beach is located a short walk down the canyon, while nearby trails lead to the island's rare Torrey pine grove and Black Mountain.

Getting there: Boat transportation can be arranged with Island Packers from Ventura Harbor. Air transportation can be arranged with Channel Islands Aviation from Camarillo airport. To park headquarters in Ventura, California: Highway 101, exit Victoria or Seaward to Ventura Harbor.

• Well separated here, a 15-site campground with no through road within 3.7 miles.
• Flat ground is scarce: under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
• Mostly tent-only sites, with 16 hike-in sites and 16 on the water.
• The coast lies 0.5 mi off.
