Del Norte Campground is a primitive backcountry facility set in a shaded oak grove on Santa Cruz Island in Channel Islands National Park. The site features four designated tent-only campsites equipped with picnic tables and a shared pit toilet. There is no water available on-site, requiring campers to pack in all supplies. Reached via a 3.5-mile hike along the Del Norte Trail from Prisoners Harbor or a 5-mile route via Navy Road, the campground overlooks the island's coastline from a ridge 700 feet above sea level. Beach access is available at Prisoners Harbor.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Private here -- no through road within 3.7 miles, a 9-site campground. Mostly tent-only sites -- 5 hike-in sites, 5 sit on the water. The coast lies 0.4 mi off. The nearest town, Channel Islands Beach, is 27 mi off.
