San Mateo Campground sits just inland from the sandy beaches of San Onofre State Beach in Orange County, with the San Mateo Creek wetlands alongside. The 146 sites include both RV campsites with electricity and water hookups, and tent-camping areas, each with fire pit and picnic table. Amenities include flush toilets, hot indoor showers, and a dump station. A 1.5-mile nature trail connects the campground to Trestles Beach, a world-class surf spot. The campground operates year-round and can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 25 feet.
